What could be causing headaches and nausea?

  • My husband (41) has been dealing with frequent headaches and nausea since early September. The headaches will be moderately painful and the nausea isn't usually enough to make him throw up. He's been to the doctor about 3 times for this... they seem to think it's tension headaches because he has been under a lot of stress this year. I think he has major anxiety about anything medical and that doesn't help matters. On his request, the doctor ordered a CT of the head, which came back normal. Sinus x-ray was normal and he has no health conditions except meds for cholesterol (he has been on those for years). Blood pressure is always normal as well. He still has a good appetite and hasn't been losing weight. One thing we've noticed is that his face gets flushed sometimes for no apparent reason. He's also frequently tired, but I don't know if it's just because of the winter or because he's feeling unwell so often. Any ideas??

  • Answer:

It could be migraine. That involves nausea and/or throwing up. Sometimes but not always migraine involves visual disturbances like blind spots, zig zag lines for around 30 minutes. It could be cluster headaches. Special lavender cushions you warm in microwave can help if its tension or migraine, but that will not cure any visual affects if there are any. If any more symptoms or nothing gets better then see your doctor again.
