How can I get rid of stuttering?
-
I have been stuttering since I was about maybe 6 years old. I am 15 now and have been stuttering ever since, and quite frankly, I am sick and tired of it. I want to get rid of it. I just don't know how. Stuttering has had a very negative effect on my life, and I want to get rid of it immediately. Is there something I can buy to get rid of it? Or can I undergo surgery to get rid of it? I don't want stupid answers like "Read 10 minutes every day" or "Sing for 10 minutes every day"... I want something that guarantees my stuttering to go away. Is there such thing? Thank you for reading.

I have been stuttering since 12 and now I am 32. It's still there although not that visible. I tell you one thing and that is that you might not ever recover. If you want to win US Open in tennis and you don't want to practice how the hell will you win it? If you want to be fluent and don't want to do exercises how do you want to speak better?? My life was pretty sh*t when I was 15 to 18 just because I spent every single day trying to get rid of my stuttering. I hated everyone and everything and could not understand why God gave me this thing! I forgot to enjoy my life and be happy. Later I realized I don't want to live like this anymore. I started to concentrate on getting new friends, live my life, fulfill my dreams. My self-confidence grew and my speech got better. Now I don't think about it anymore. I am a normal person living a normal life and sometimes stutter. But at least I am unique in a way, like it. I am proud that I overcame so much in my life and that I am so strong. Think about it from this point of view. You have so much to give... Wish you all the best! :-)

I've been a stutterer since I was 5 and I'm now 19. You're going to be mad at me for this, but please, hear me out. There's no cure for stuttering. That's it. Does that mean that's the end of everything? It doesn't have to be. I used to hate my stuttering and myself so much and I used to look for a magic cure too. I didn't find it, but somehow, I went from a severe stutter to a mild stutter over the course of high school. The only thing that changed was the way I felt about myself and my stuttering. I found things that I was good at and people that made me feel good about myself. I gradually gained more confidence and stopped obsessing over my stuttering. I didn't even notice the change, but one day my mom pointed it out to me and really, it didn't make a difference at that point because stuttering didn't define me anymore. There's no cure for stuttering, but there is a cure for the way stuttering makes you feel about yourself. Start involving yourself in things that boost your confidence and give you an identity that's separate from your stuttering. For me, it was ballroom dancing and writing poetry. I went through years of expensive speech therapy and it did absolutely nothing for me. In fact, I think it actually delayed the development of my self-confidence, since it pretty much forced me to think about my stuttering and everything that I hated about it for a couple of hours a day. I still have a mild stutter now, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to and I genuinely like myself a lot more than I did before. Good luck!!
the best method is speech therapy. There are no gauarantes. speech therapy is the best method, but it does take time and work. singing lessons do help as they help you control your breathing. here are a few herbal remadies http://www.online-vitamins-guide.com/dietary-cure/stammering.htm
