How do I know if I have herpes?

How do I know if I have herpes?! How can I cure this thing on my lip?!?

• So 3 nights ago, I noticed a tingling sensation on the right corner of my lower lip & it was a bit purplish in shade. I thought maybe it was just an irritation from the raw sushi I had. The next day, it turned into really tiny looking blisters that were only visible if you got up close. Then the next day I woke up, it was an outbreak. There was clear liquid coming out of it & it dries up into this yellow crusty mass. It's located on the right corner of my lip & even touches outside of the lining of my lip. It's very itchy & I haven't gone outside embarrassed people would think it's herpes. Looked online & found that herpes symptoms are fever, sore throat, etc & I have none of those. My bf doesn't have herpes either. What could it be?! PLEASE HELP! I've been applying neosporin to it & it hasn't improved. I need my life back! P.S. It's my second time having something like this happen to my lip, the other time was only about 2 months ago. My mom thinks it's just bc I play with my lips a lot & bacteria is going inside my cuts.

  This actually is a type of Herpes commonly known as a cold sore. There are over the counter creams for these. Generally the outbreak is caused by sun exposure. You can pass this on to other people when the sore is "weeping'. Have someone bring you one of these products and start using it. You can take Tylenol or Aspirin for the pain. With treatment this will clear within 7 to 10 days sooner if you limit your sun exposure.
