How soon can a doctor see if you have an STD?

What's the fastest & cheapest way to get tested for all STD's? I have to wait a week to see my doctor.?

• For the past several days I've been experiencing some pain at the tip of my penis. No swelling, redness, nor bumps, just pain. Fearing the worst, I called my doctor the very first day I've noticed the pain, but he's not available for 3 weeks! I called some other doctors in my area and the earliest appointment I was able to get is a week from now. I've seen a lot of websites that offer immediate STD testing, but they charge anywhere from $300 to $800 and they don't accept any kind of health insurance. I've been told that the only way for my health insurance to cover most of the cost to get tested is to get a recommendation from a doctor. But, as I mentioned earlier, the earliest doctor's appointment I was able to set up is still a week from now! I've been going crazy worrying about this thing for the past couple days now while I'm waiting for this appointment. I've had unprotected oral sex a few weeks ago with a woman who claimed she was clean (and still claims it) but there's still a chance she had an STD and showed no symptoms. I also understand that this could be unrelated to an STD and could simply be a bacterial infection or UTI. But I'm not too worried about that because there are cures for those if that's the case. What I'm worried about are the big two incurables: HIV and genital herpes. Like I said, I only have pain (more like a burning sensation) at the tip of my penis. There's no signs of swelling, redness, nor bumps. Is there a quick and cost effective way to get tested? Do I have to wait a week to get a recommendation from my doctor (and then another week to get the test results in?) Someone please help!

  Go to a free clinic in your area. Planned Parenthood. Sounds like a UTI. :)
