Why do my razor bumps itch?

Is this razor bumps or herpies?

  • im a girl who shaves her pubic hair and i get these big red bump things they look like pimples sometimes a bit itchy but not consistantly and its just one itch like if u had an itch on ur arm and then the itch goes away. its only there i get some razor bumps on my legs but hopefully these are razor bumps and not herpies (im not sexualy active just thought i'd add that) so if they are razor bumps how come i only get them there and on my biki line? i dont get that many razor bumps on my legs and i do they are slight...maybe its because pubic hair is a differnt type of hair its thicker and darker and coarser but im not sure could it be herpies?

If the sores appear only exactly where you shave and only where hair grows it is most likely razor bumps. If sores appear in areas where hair never grows it could be herpes. If you are a virgin the only way you could possibly have herpes in the vaginal area is if you somehow accidentally spread cold sores from your mouth to that area. This is unlikely though. Pubic hair is coarser and curls more tightly than general body hair. Also the skin in the groin area is softer and more prone to chafing from tight clothes. That is why razor bumps are more likely to appear in the pubic area. If you are able to examine the pimples closely when they come to a head, you will see small hairs curling around inside some of the sores caused by razor bumps.
