Itchy rash but non visible bumps?

Should one assume automatically that a rash near the genitals is genital herpes?

  • I've been having sex with the same guy for about 2 months. I've never had any issues after sex with him. Everything has always been fine. I was tested before dealing with him so I know I came into the situation clean. And to be honest, he's not that attractive so I very seriously doubt he has a lot of casual sex. The last time we had sex was 2 weeks ago and we were drunk so things were a little wild (we definitely wore a condom). I woke up the next morning feeling a little bit itchy but it wasn't that bad so we had sex again. I was fine all day. The next day I woke up itchier. I'm no stranger to yeast infections (I used to get re-occuring yeast infections a lot during puberty) and based on what was going on sexually I expected to possibly have one. The itching (no burning) and the cottage cheese like discharge (no smell). So I started my typical remedies for the yeast infection and they worked, the itching stopped on the inside. Now my issue is, there is a small barely visible rash near my vulva. Its like on the side of my vulva right where my buttcheek ends and my leg starts on both sides of my vulva but predominately on the right (its not down my leg though) and right at the opening of my vagina (I think! there are bumps there but I think it could just be my vagina because they don't hurt or itch at all). The yeast infection symptoms went away after a week but its 2 weeks later and the rash is still here. I've gotten a rash from yeast infections before if they were violent and again based on the nature of the cause it seems like thats what it would be from. I believe the rash is still here because I've been bad and I scratch it sometimes (I have a scratch binge once a day). There is no reason to believe it could be herpes because it looks nothing like sores, is not puss filled, doesn't hurt when I pee, my glands never got swollen and I gave him oral sex and there is absolutely nothing happening to my mouth. I feel like I'm being paranoid, that this was obviously a yeast infection due to fecal matter making its way where it didn't belong. The reasons I'm paranoid are because the yeast infection left and the rash stayed and I had developed a cold the same day as the yeast infection (the cold went away in 3 days, I had a 99.5 fever once during the cold, and I'm guessing I got sick for barely wearing clothes that night and the cold was going around). Someone please shed some light on my situation!!! I'm so confused and nothing is helping the rash go away. Again, its barely visible the only time its visible is if I scratch it. And if I scratch it, it spreads a little but the spreading goes away after it calms down from the scratching (which I think is normal for normal rashes based on rashes I've had in non-sexual places). Also, after I scratched the other day a couple small flat bumps (no fluid inside, just normal looking itchy bumps) popped up. They're the scariest part to me but they don't look like any of the herpes bumps I've seen in pictures on google. I have no insurance right now so I can't go to doctor. Please give me some insight!!

  • Answer:

Try an anti-fungal ointment; it might be "jock itch", which is a fairly common fungus infection of the toes (athlete's foot), crotch area, and armpits. It will take about a week to work, two weeks to completely get rid of the problem. Change underwear daily or more often, and always after a bath or shower. Advise your boyfriend to do the same. You can get this kind of oitment on the shelf at any pharmacy.

Go the emergency room they'll do a swab culture. Condoms are not 100 proof. You may be a carrier. I'd definitely talk to your man before you pass the plague.
