What is this rash on me?

I got poison oak on leg in Oct '09 and recently an itchy rash has appeared- not poison oak. What is it?

  • I got the poison oak on my leg when I was on a hike in a jungle in the foothills of the sierra madre mountains in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I diagnosed the rash as poison oak because it was a weeping rash and looked like the poison oak rashes I've gotten many times before. But just this week on Sunday Feb 9th 2010, a small itchy rash has appeared on the same area on my leg where I had the poison oak months before. It literally is on the little white scar that the poison oak left on my leg. The rash is not weeping nor does it have any poison oak-like attributes. The only thing is that this rash is very very itchy. But it just looks like common little rash bumps that aren't red but actually more whitish. What do you think this rash is and what are some solutions? BTW I don't have insurance so I don't want to go to the doctor unless it is necessary.

  • Answer:

Well since you didn't see a doctor then you can't be sure if it was poison oak and now you have a new rash in the same spot. It could be possible that it's something else. But since you don't have insurance just go to the store and look at lotions. It's only itchy right? Try exzema lotions, they have numbing effects. Or you could try dermasil, I got mine from Dollar Tree. And surprisingly the Dermasil is working really well for me and my legs don't itch, I have exzema. If the rash doesn't go away and seems to get worse than you should go see a doctor just to be safe. But just try using different lotions first.
