Acne treatment/proactiv?

Acne experts please help! very long, sorry. i hope you like reading....?

  • i know there is already alot of questions on yahoo about acne but im hopeing that someone can take the time out to help me make up a good regimen specifically for my skin type and to advise certain products to me. ill try to give a detailed description of my skin type and acne type and then it would be great if you could give me any advice. also i dont have a money tree growing in my back yard so dont tell me to go to the dermatologist and please dont suggest any really expensive treatments to me cause i cant afford it alright so im 18 years old and im hispanic and white. my skin is naturally oily but it dries out VERY easily. every acne treatment ive tried has dried out my skin weather it works or not and lotion doesnt really help if i try to use it at the same time as the acne products. sometimes my acne is mild and sometimes it seem severe. i dont get cyst or big pimples thank god. i just have a lot of tiny pimples all over my face. mostly my cheeks and forhead. but the thing is that my acne is VERY VERY stubborn. acne products dont help when you have sensitive skin and stubborn acne :( the things ive used in the past are acnefree, lemon juice on face, apple cidear vinigar on my face, klear action, walgreens skin essentials 3 step acne kit, clearisil, clean and clear, ugh the list goes on. as you can see ive tried home remedies and things from the store. some of them have worked and some of them havent but the main problem is the EVERYTHING dries out my face. but it also seems like the only way to clear up my acne is to dry it out really bad but thats not a good thing. so basically i need a good regimen that only uses moisturizing treatments that actually work to get rid of acne. i have acne in general from being a very stressed out teenager but i also break out before my period :( i know all of the simple things about preventing acne like washing your face morning and night and changing you pillow case and blah blah. been there done that but that alone doesnt clear up or prevent acne. so please please please give me some advice. ill appreciate anything. thanks! :)

    Great information, but without seeing your skin it's still not possible to make recommendations about treatment. That's what dermatologists do. They examine you, listen to what you have tried and educate you about how to care for your skin and how they think you would be best treated. You have tried many over the counter remedies, but not Rx. There are many options. See the dermatologist.

I can't promise anything of course, but if you go to acne.org, there's this regime and it seems pretty good for most people who tried. The founder, Dan, suggests that you use a really plain cleanser for your wash step. He sells his own, but anything from a drugstore works too. Then, he suggests using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel (not cream), either the one he sells or a substitute from the drugstore (his is a way better deal price-wise, coz you can get like 4 times as much for an equivalent price). It can burn at first, but usually goes away after a couple of weeks. Then just use a really light lotion like Eucerin (or his!). Dan explains it all on his site and has even videos to show you! =] I'm trying not to be too specific since it varies for everyone, but the thing with his method is to be very, very, precise or you won't get the right results! Only problem- his stuff is only available online. Another suggestion is Dermadoctor. I hear it can smell really bad, and it can take a while to really show results (like anything really), but it's supposed to help even skin tone and reduce oiliness. It's worth a try if you have some $70 to squeeze out for everything. Try the Ain't Misbehavin' line, since you said your skin is oily and dries easily, mine is the same way too. Remember most good products take 2-3 months to really get the real result! Good luck with it, if you try it!
