Do you have any suggestions for treating acne on my back?

I have acne, I think it's from my very oily skin and now I've tried just about everything, any suggestions?

  • I am a 19 year old male. I have had acne ever since high school which has been mild to severe at times. I have very oily skin which I think is the reason for acne on my face and also genetics, my father had acne but not as severe as me. I am very hygienic and athletic, I eat healthy and drink a lot of fluids because I am a hockey player. I wash my face whenever I feel like it has too much excess oil which can be several times a day. I've tried everything and I mean everything, from all types of topicals, oral anti biotics, all kinds of cleansers, treatment sets like proactiv and maxclarity and few others, and even accutane. Accutane (Claravis) was succesful for me, I've been on it 2 separate times but both times I only finished 3 months of the 6 recommended. I was acne free for several months after both accutane uses before it came back again! I am thinking of asking my dermatologist to get back on Accutane one FINAL time but this time I will make sure I finish the 6 months. BUT BEFORE I go down this road again, I was wondering if anyone had any Suggestions, Ideas, Treatment, Advice, or any successful Past Experience for me? Anything is appreciated, I am DESPERATE!!! Thank you so much! (Right now I'm just using a natural face soap and I have moderate to severe acne.)

  • Answer:

A lot of the oil comes from the scalp and is transferred to face by touch. Wash your hair every single day with a mild shampoo (no conditioner or styling products). It sounds very simplistic, but it really helps.

I got this. Wash your pillow cases (#1 cause of acne in my opinion). Take a multivitamin and of course continue to wash your face with things that contain no fragrances and are non condegemic (twice a day, any more and you will make it worse). But seriously. Its your pillow case. You lay on it all night with your oily skin and rub your oil and dirt and dead skin into the fabric. Its like a pimple buffet.

A prescription for doxycycline or minocycline.

Sensible diet, good hygiene and low stress should keep acne away. Use great OTC acne products like “Niapads”, “Cetaphil” etc that are simple and easy to use. The most effective product is one that is "simple” to use. Multistep treatment are difficult to follow and prolong acne. With Niapads you can cut a piece, wet it with water and place it on the pimple. Active ingredients penetrate the skin and provide relief. They also are effective in reducing skin hyperpigmentation (acne scars).

I got Benzaclyn to clear up my acne, and the stuff is INCREDIBLE. Highly recommended. Now I just use it to treat the occasional pimple, and it will be gone in 3 days max. It's awesome.
