What are acne products that actually work?

Are their any acne products that actually work?

  • I am sick of buying all the acne products that dont work and i just want one that does work. Are their any that actually do??

  • Answer:

Try topical retnoids and antibiotics first, and then try oral antibiotics too if those don't work. If the oral antibiotics and topical retnoids don't work, then you should try Accutane. The problem with Acutane is though, the side effects list is as long as my arm. But Accutane can actually clear acne up in the long run, so it's up to you to decide between the two extremes. Topical retnoids can clear up acne in the long run too; I forgot to note that.

There are a few acne products that actually work. I was also tired spending my hard earned $$$ just to look clear and spotless. But many acne products were a complete waste of time and money for me. It was only when I started using Derma Cleanse Acne Gel, did I manage to get rid of the acne that accompanied me for 2 years. Today I am all clean and clear on the face and don't have big issues with acne. At times I just get one or two pimples (due to my living style and diet) but those also go away in a day or two. If you are looking for something that works for acne this is the stuff you should try blindly. It really works! zenmed.com

It appears that many products out there help to control the symptoms but remember there is no cure. Acne is hormonal and some have chosen to control their problems by taking birth control pills to control the androgen hormones while others have elected to dry it out with over the counter products while others have chose to obtain powerful prescription drugs (ie Accutane-mainly for cystic [severe] acne). Salicylic acid (what ProActiv uses) helps to unclog pores but Benzoyl Peroxide helps to eliminate the bacteria that makes pores erupt (ProActiv does not have this). Many don't realize that these types of acne products are more geared towards people with extremely oily skin and works better for moderate to severe acne. For those with mild acne and combination skin, these products don't work as well because acne chemicals on dry skin will only dry the skin out further creating dead skin cells that will collect and clog pores thus even people with dry skin can break out. So the answer to your question lies upon what skin type you are and how badly your skin is breaking out. If you have really oily skin, I'd recommend that you visit acne.org. I read their regimen and the secret is using loads of benzyol peroxide 2%. They sell their own products but it can be compareable to others in the market at a very affordable price. Warning, their products tend to be veryyyy drying but seems rather effective for those with very bad acne problems. Remember to read reviews on each products to see the effectiveness of each. If you have combination/dry skin, I don't recommend that you use acne products because it will worsen your condition. I have dry cheeks (where I mainly break out). I have stopped using acne chemicals (after ten years of using it) and have noticed that my acne has subsided quite a bit. I saw that applying astringents to my face was drying it out further causing painful acne and white heads on and off. Now my skin looks different...I am also using clinique rinse off cream cleanser which is great for acne prone skin. Accutane has veryyyy bad side effects and it increases your risk for depression, so be aware. You didn't mention if you have mild, moderate, or severe acne. Accutane is only worth it if you have very severe acne.

I use proactiv, and it works well. I'm not going to lie and day you won't have any pimples, but they are few and it helps a lot. Make sure if you do start using it to not start off using it twice a day like it says, because your face will get horribly dry. Also, if using proactiv, you will need to buy a face moisturizer as well, most likely. Neutrogena oil free moisture for sensitive skin is amazing.
