  • How can I help get rid of my acne? I am currently going to a dermatologist, and have been going to him for over a year now. My acne really isn't much better. It is on my face, all over my back, and some on my legs and thighs. Even the arms. I can't go on accutane, and I am currently on cinamycin(gel), differen(gel), benzoyal peroxide(body wash), impruve(vitamin), and fish pills. I was on minocyclin but that didn't work well. I drink a lot of water and don't touch my face much. Yet it is still everywhere. How can I make my acne a little better. I know I can't get rid of it, I just want to make it a little better.

    Acne.com has a huge list of answers. As a patient of chronic acne for 5 years now, I've learned the best method is using everything you have at the same time. If you don't like dry skin, then stick with having acne, because in my experience, lotions make it worse. But, every body's skin is different. Use all of your products along with, Hydrogen Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, Vinegar, face wash with beads mixed in, and ever few hours, wipe your face with a napkin. It will remove the oil and reduce face shine. It really helps. Napkin must be dry.

Wow, you are doing all the right things...if you really, REALLY can't go on Accutane (I'm 17 as well, and have gone through it very successfully), then I'm not sure what to advise...I've tried several of the things you're using, and they didn't work on me. Also, if you're washing too hard or using things that are too harsh for your skin, that could make it worse. I guess all I can say is to make sure you're washing daily, but not too harshly.
