I have small, red, itchy bumps on my arms? Help.

Itchy bumps only on arms... help?

  • Can anyone help me figure out what this is? I have a rash-like something on my arms. It is made up of small little bumps that are slightly pink in color and it's sort of scattered randomly across both arms. They look sort of like pimples only smaller and they are very itchy at times. It almost seems to resemble chicken pox, but the fact that it is only on my arms and that I've already had chicken pox, can pretty much rule that out. I at first thought they were insect bites, but again, it's only on my arms and it seems to be spreading more on my arms. I have seen a doctor who couldn't explain it but referred me to a dermatologist, but the appointment is a week away. For peace of mind, and so that I can find a way to remedy the itch, does anyone know what this is?

  • Answer:

I have Eczema on my arms and that's what it sounds like to me. I know it's really hard to resist..but don't scratch! It only spreads it and makes it cover more area. Which sucks. Mine gets worse when my arms get wet and rub up against something (such as when I do dishes at work). So try to keep your skin dry, but not too dry (that'll also make it worse). If you go to the store you can buy an oatmeal lotion (Suave is a good brand for that) and I would recommend applying that a couple times a day. Also, my problems with this only recently started, so it's quite possible that you've developed a kind of skin sensitivity or allergy. For the next week, stay away from scented lotions, soaps, shampoos and shaving creams. I know it's kind of a pain in the butt but it might just do wonders. If I get scented stuff on my arms it makes them break out with that rash and itch. You can also go buy an anti-itch cream. Such as the kind you'd buy for bug bites or rashes. You can usually get a bottle at walmart for relatively cheap. Keep it on hand to put on the spots when they're really driving you crazy. Oh oh, I just remembered. I went to the doctor recently and asked if there was anything else I could do to control the eczema. She said to take Zyrtec over the counter. It's cheaper to buy the off-brand type. It's called Citrizine. Basically it's an allergy medicine, but it's an antihistimine so it will reduce the itching. I started taking it a week ago and it seems to really help. I hope that this all helps! Sorry it was such a long list of stuff but hopefully when you pair a few of those things together, it will make a difference. Good Luck!
