What causes an ingrown hair and how to get rid of it?

How do I get rid of an ingrown hair?

  • I have an ingrown hair on my pubic area and it got infected and it got big as of yesterday. It scared me a little bit because of the size but it reduced in size since last night because I've been putting neosporin on it and putting warm facecloths on it. its still pretty big, it doesn't hurt though. I want it to go away and I am 16 so I'm kinda embarrassed to go to the doctors and explain how i shave down there and got an ingrown hair. Especially explain to my mom why I have to go to the docs is kinda embarrassing. I just want it gone because in about a month I have prom coming up... -_- Please help and thank you for any suggestions.

  • Answer:

it's not embarrassing. remember that docs have seen EVERYTHING down there from those that belong to babies, to old women to old men. Why should a 16 year old's be any different? Okay so it might sound gross, but if you can somehow find a STERILE needle, you have to dig GENTLY on the skin and get the hair out by using CLEAN tweezers. Before that, wash down there, wash your hands, dry yourself and then to it gently. Be sure to have antibiotic creams to apply there after. Or like i said, better go to a professional as these things can go horribly wrong. Then that would be something to worry about.
