What is it called when you have a hard bump on your heal?

How do I heal and get rid of a bump on my industrial piercing?

  • I got my industrial piercing done about two years ago and it has grown a bump in the inside if the top hole and it stil isn't total healed!:s I try and clean it regulary but every once and I while it still gets infected, it also hurts whenever I bump it. So wanted to know why or if there's anything I can do to make it heal or get rid of the bump?

  • Answer:

The bump may be many different things. Try treating it as hypertrophic scarring or a small keloid at first. Try sea salt soaks twice a day right after you wash it. Mix pure sea salt (no iodine) and hot water. The mixture should be no saltier than tears. Soak your piercing in that for ten minutes and then rinse very, very thoroughly. Any left over salt will crystallize and leave small cuts inside the piercing. Ouch. If that doesn't work after a week or two, try Bacitracin. You also put that on after cleaning it, in small amounts with a Q-tip, around the bump. If it does not go away, go ask a piercer or a doctor and see if they can help. And try not to sleep on it, touch it, or irritate it. The piercing being bumped and touched is usually what causes the scarring, but it's also normal for piercings placed in cartilage.
