Asthma is kinda bad but my peak flow reading is good?

Is 270 to low of a peak flow reading for a person with asthma?

  • i have asthma. i saw the lung doctor for the first time in march and at that point my peak flow was somewhere in the 300's, i say 380 and the lung doctor says 310. i saw the lung doctor again in march and at that point my peak flow was 270 and the doctor was never once concerned about my reading being low. when i first saw the lung doctor he never told me what my normal peak should be so i looked it up and normal peak flow for me should be 455. oh and as of right now i am not on any asthma medication because the lung doctor doesn't think i need any asthma meds. so i was wondering if 270 was a good or bad peak flow reading?

  • Answer:

According to the site I visited, normal peak flow readings are different, depending on your age and height. The important question is "Can you breathe?"
