Why is my throat red and dry?

Why is my throat so dry?

  • The past 4 days my throat constantly has that dry feeling like I just woke up. Usually a glass of water would shift whatever was blocking it and i'd be fine. But no matter how much I drink ( i've been drinking twice the normal amount to try and get rid of it) it won't go away. My mouth is also really dry and my lips parched. Last night when I blew my nose I got a large amount of thick brown phlegm come out of my right nostril. I thought that might have been stuck to my throat but I still have the same dry feeling. I've tried a gargle but to no avail. What the hell is wrong with my throat? I've been drinking both hot and cold drinks, eaten stuff like bread to try and push whatever it is down. When I ate the bread it almost felt like it wouldn't go down because my throat was so dry or tight I don't know... i'm also having chest pains and a lot of random coughing because I can't breathe.

Sounds like a bad upper respiratory infection that may have spread to your chest. I'm asthmatic and get these often. I'm not saying that you have astma (it could just be allergies - maybe your radiator is causing all this dry throat and sinus discharge) You could even have a simple cold. You should definitely see your doctor regardless. Don't stop drinking the water because it helps thin and clear the mucus. Try to make your meals wet one like soups and stews. Good luck:)
