How do I get rid of this nasty cough?

• I have been sick for 4-5 days now, with a head cold it feels like, just stuffyness, ears soar,green flem,pluged nose and now I have red eyes.I had a dry cough, but I took some mucsinex* and now its all phlem. But, three days in the row I would have this nasty cough attack. I have this tingle in my throat and I start almost gaging and I started to cry because the tickling needle pain in my throat is getting worst and i keep coughing but it just gets worst and water helps it for about a minute it even feela like Im choking and its just hurting my soar throat worst!. Holding my breathe kind of works, but how can i get rid of it. It only lasts for about 5-10 Min's and only once a day it seems. Thank u!(:

  You could have post nasal drip. Try one of those netti pots or Simply Saline to clear out your sinuses. The mucus from your sinuses drip down your throat and causes coughing. Sleep propped up. If all fails get checked for asthma
