Is using an expired inhaler bad for you?

I have been using my inhaler more than 8 times everyday since 2001, what risks do i face?

  • In 1996 I was diagnosed with Emphysema which I'm told I got from smoking. Since then I have stoped smoking and I have been using ventolin inhaler. My concern now is that since 2006 I have had to increase my daily use of the inhaler to between 8 to 10 times everyday despite the fact that I observe all the precautions necessary to reduce my need for it. I am 45 years and I feel that my condition is deteroriating hence the increase. Please does anybody know any thing I can do to reduce the numbers of times I use my inhaler?

  • Answer:

are you seeing your doctor on regular basis ?? the problem is that Emphysems is progressive disease .. the best thing to do is to keep in touch with you doctor all the time .. you don't have too much choices in treating Emphysema .. but maybe you can ask your doctor about the lightweight portable oxygen systems maybe it will be better choice for you since that your condition is actually deteriorating .. i don't think you have to worry about risks of the Ventoin inhlare rather than you Emphysema ... Emphysema is the greatest risk you have .. sorry to say that take care
