Asthma is kinda bad but my peak flow reading is good?

How much can normal peak flow vary for people with asthma?

  • Hi, I recently purchased a peak air flow meter. According to the chart, my peak airflow rate should be about 428. I cannot get it much above 375 so far (still in the yellow). I have been having very mild asthma symptoms (not even to the point of being short of breath.) I just got it today, so I have not had time and a symptom free period to try it to figure out my personal best. Just wondering though, how much can someone's personal best when they are symptom free vary from what the chart tells them their peak air flow should be? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Hello i my self supposedly have asthma but i dont believe what the doctors tell me. Ive passed a pulminary functions test an now im trying to join the military. Minor asthma patients peak flow should be around 400. Exercise. Stay away from smoke an swim. Plenty of lung exercises and u can increase by 100 points easily. My peak flow is 580:D
