Asthma is kinda bad but my peak flow reading is good?

I can never get a peak flow reading. Should I be concerned?

  • I have had bad asthma for many years. The last time I had a serious attack I went to my local doctor several days afterwards and he got me to do a peak flow test. I blew out as hard as I could but couldn't get a reading. He didn't seem concerned and assumed I wasn't blowing as hard as possible but I definitely was. Is it normal to not be able to get a peak flow reading, even when not experiencing asthmatic symptoms? My asthma has been worse than usual and I'm wondering if I should pursue this with my doctor.

  • Answer:

If he wasn't concerned it might have been because you weren't getting a good enough seal round the edges.
