Questions About Symbicort ( Asthma Medication.)?
-
(1) Does anyone use it ? Do You Have Side Effects ? (2) It states " Can Increase Risk Of Asthma Related Death " .. So I could just go into a asthma attack and die ? (3) Can you use it along with a albuterol ? If so is there a spacfic time frame you have to wait between doses ? I would ask my Doctor these questions if they ever felt the need to answer there phones or return calls ! Been trying to reach them for a week since it was prescribed to help control my asthma.. Thank you :D

Answer:
Symbicort is a steroid controller medicine, meaning it should be taken twice a day to PREVENT asthma symptoms from occurring. Taking this during an attack will NOT relieve you of your symptoms. That is what your rescue inhaler is for. You CAN take your Albuterol right along with taking Symbicort because it is your rescue inhaler. You should have this with you at all times in the event of an acute asthma attack or symptoms of increased work of breathing/ wheezing. They say Symbicort can increase the risk of asthma related death because some people have reported an increase in wheezing after using it and an increase in allergic reactions when using this med. However, this is soooo extremely rare and you should feel comfortable using this med without complications. You will not go into an attack and die. If you do have increased wheezing, then use your Albuterol or go to the ER for a high dose Albuterol nebulizer and IV steroids. Good luck! This is a great med and will really help control your asthma symptoms!

if you can't get hold of your doctor ask you pharmacist, they know a lot about drug interactions.
Insist that your doctor address these concerns. Generally, Symbicort is for use once or twice daily (every day) to prevent asthma symptoms. If you also have been given albuterol, that is your "rescue" medication and should be used any time you are having asthma symptoms (wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath). If you just took your Symbicort as scheduled and are having these symptoms, it's usually okay to use albuterol after. Again, you should talk to your doctor, as each person is different. If your symptoms don't get better with your rescue medication, go to an ER. (Side effects are different in everyone. A bad taste is one of the most common).
