Is it normal to have a deformed and rather odd feeling tonsil?

Tonsil soreness, possible infection, help?

• Throat: December 13th: home December 17th: climbed into bed, thought I swallowed something, on right side, saw nothing Feeling goes away with food/water, gets progressively worse December 19th-20th: nauseous, up all night, new feeling that back of throat feels like it is covered in cotton and carpet and nothing works December 20th: red dots at roof of mouth near uvula, seems a little red but mostly normal. Strep is negative December 22nd: feels the same, culture comes back negative 20th-29th taking amoxicillin Note: did not feel "normal" til morning of the 25th December 30th-31st: climb in bed, nauseous, can't sleep, throat feels very slightly like something tiny is on left tonsil Day of 31st: nausea and possible light fever Night of 31st & January 1st: only throat feeling comes back only when I lie down, feels like one scratch or something on just the left tonsil area. Not noticeable during free time in the day at all January 2nd: fine during day then feeling at night changes to overall soreness and dryness in both tonsils, but they look normal. Not carpet feeling and no red spots, just dryness and soreness. Left tonsil feels worse still. (basically the first 2 days without medicine feeling immediately returned and the cycle started over similarly) I do not have white goo or substance, no tonsillitis or tonsiloliths or halitosis, nothing noticeable or physically odd. The tonsils themselves are not enflamed or a strange sense of red. Again, swallowing is delayed but mostly normal. Has anyone ever had this type of irritation? I will probably see an ENT this week, but can anyone else help? Thanks!
