What is the benefit of having a respiratory therapy degree and registered nurse degree?
-
I am currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy and was told once I receive my degree that it would only take 6 months more to get my RN as well. What are the benefits of having a bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy and also Nursing? Does pay go up? Obviously jobs would open up more because there is always a nursing job and/or a respiratory therapist job available. Does it make sense to have both when looking at a pay scale? Any thoughts?

Answer:
The pay would not be higher as you would only be hired for one position, either nurse or RT. You do not get extra pay for extra degrees. It would take much more than 6 months to get your RN after getting your RT degree.
