Why can't I taste or smell at all after a cold?

I had a cold for the last week and cant taste or smell ?

• I started out with a sore throat, stuffy nose, cough etc. I didn't really take anything because i'm pregnant. I drank chamomille tea with honey and lemon for my sore throat and I thought I just suffer through this cold. Well for 3 days now I can't smell or taste anything. I used saline nasal spray but that sometimes doesn't work because I am so congested that the spray wont even go all the way up into my nose. I tried Vicks VapoRub and hot steamy showers to clear out my nasal passages. At times I can blow my nose and it feels a little more clear at that time and I can breathe through my nose for a while but I still can't smell or taste. I am worried because I heard stories of people who lost their sense of smell and taste completely. Is there anything I can do to "wake up" my senses and taste and smell again? Eating is not fun anymore :( thanks!

  If its a cold let it run its course and drink alot of hot liquids be sure to hawk and spit your phlegm out to help get better faster.
