The bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, can damage the lung tissue through a process called necrosis. The body will in response try to heal it self thus causing scar tissue to form. The lung damage and healing process will cause a condition called a fibrosis. This can eventually cause an impairment in oxygenation, etc.
