How do you get rid of a persistent cough from a cold?

How to get rid of this weird cough?

• i had a bad chest cold last week and im not coughing up green infection anymore. but i am stll coughing up stuff so i guess its a good thing. but, the bad thing is that if i breath in through my mouth i cough. and seems as if theres a tickle always there. how long will this cough last?i wake up at night and cough forever until i fall back asleep. is there anything i can ake that will help? halls cough drops does nothing! but im getting too annoyed about the whole thing since i hae to sleep on the cough.

  well u should go to a doctor to make sure you are ok. If you take pure lemon juice with honey that helps a lot to relieve coughs and its natural instead of taking cough medicine with all those harmful chemicals.
