Whats causing my chronic nightmares?

For the last two months ive been having chronic nightmares. I barely had them before my boyfriend started staying the night with me. Now i have them almost every night but only on nights that i sleep alone and i never have them when i sleep with him. That is the only thing different ive been doing no medicine or anything. Is it a mental thing because ive gotten used to sleeping with him and not by myself? And does anyone know how i can stop them, theres usually 2 a night and its affecting my sleep a lot ):
