Does having a clean house help prevent colds?
-
I know that a good diet, regular exercise and getting enough sleep are really important for a strong immune system. I have been told that if you vacuum regularly and keep your house clean, as well as wash your hands regularly then you will really help yourself to not get a cold. Is that true? I must say that I am not the tidiest person in the world and I do get quite a few colds.

Answer:
Those things can help but since " colds" are caused by viruses mostly transmitted in the air, it can be difficult to totally avoid them when you are out of the house.

I think people should strengthen the immune system to maintain health and fight diseases through preventative care, like exercise, healthy diet which is rich in fruits and vegetables and low in processed foods, get good amount of sleep. All these can build a healthy body with strong immune defense system that ward off any illnesses passing by. However, people nowadays may find hard to maintain healthy lifestyle and healthy diet to get sufficient essential nutrients for building a strong immune system. Therefore the only way to make sure we get the most optimized nutrition is to incorporate quality supplements into our diets. Supplements works by accentuating the body's defenses, boosting the immune system naturally, and hence, help to battle viruses and bacteria. They are ideally taken before serious symptoms occur. When everyone around you is falling victim to certain diseases, it is best to consult your herbal treatment expert and take a proactive approach to your medical treatment. Even if no one around you are suffering from illness, it may be worth it to pursue a course of herbal treatments to boost your immune system, especially before any major work or personal events. However, even after the onset of symptoms, these supplements can greatly reduce the severity and length of the illness. Feeling better is half the battle when it comes to overcoming illness.
Yes, it will. Most illnesses are transferred into people from inadequate hand washing.
If you feel that you get quite a few colds, you may want to consider getting an allergy test.
I'm not the tidiest person either, but I don't ever get colds. I keep a can of Lysol in the house at all times and if someone comes to the house that does have a cold after they leave I get the Lysol out and spray doorknobs and things like that. And I always keep a hand sanitizer with me at all times. And one more thing is a good multi vitamin. But you might also want to check on allergies or sinis trouble, it can someitmes act like a cold. I'm a waitress and come in contact with people that have colds all the time. That's when the little bottle of hand sanitizer comes in.
