What causes my chest pain ?
-
Over the years i would get a little pain between left chest muscle and center chest. In the past few weeks it has gotten very painful. When it happens it feels like there is pressure to my chest,no pain anywhere else just that one spot.It seems to hurt when im laying down flat, whether it be flat on back or chest. It hurts more laying on chest than back.Laying on my left side hurts even less than laying on my back.So im mostly stuck trying to sleep on my right side.If it happens to start hurting real bad it will go away if i sit up or stand up.Im only 32 and my blood test come back fine.I am having test done but the doctor makes the appointments months later and im hoping what ever it is isn't life threatening. If you or anyone you know has had this before and know the awnser please let me know what the doctors found out. THANKS.

The cause of your pain could be your heart or it could be the muscles. If you experience symptoms like breathlessness, tiredness, sweating, pain radiating to your arm etc. the cause would be cardiac. The pain is classically described as 'gripping'. You should go to a doc asap. If you have pain only when you move then the pain is musculoskeletal in origin. Painkillers till you get your doc's appointment should be fine. Try drugs like diclofenac, aspirin, aceclofenac, ibuprofen etc. Or use pain balms. No need to worry.
Because it was there for a long time, it looks like a rib pain or muscle pain. Pressing the place where the pain is, if it increases the pain, it definitely is a rib pain. Taking a couple of Tylenol or Motrin should help the pain. It is not life threatening. But if it doesn't subside then it is time for you to go to a doctor. You can visit an urgent care clinic.
It might be heart burn caused by GERD. Talk to your doctor about this. They might recommend visiting a gastroenterologist. You may also want to see a cardiologist to rule out any heart problems.
Could it be stress, stress of actually HAVING the chest pain, making it worse? I know how that feels too, I really do. I have Muscular Dystrophy (MD, for short), and whenever I lie in bed, on any position, I just.. can't breathe, at all really. And whenever I need to be in a hospital bed, in the hospital, or even if I'm sitting up, in a chair like position, in a hospital bed, I still can't breathe. So I need ventillator support, through my trach. Or somekind of breathing assistance, while simply, in a bed. Sitting up in my wheelchair, I'm fine. Just my little story.
