How effective is the anti-rabies vaccine for humans?

While I was injecting antirabies vaccine to a suspected person, the needle also pricked me. Is there any risk?

  • Answer:

Yes, there is a possible exposure to any type of blood born pathogens when you get stuck with a needle used on another person. Report the needle stick and follow procedures. IE blood tests on yourself and the person you used the needle on. The MD can instruct you as to the procedures.

Other answers

If the needle had been in the person before it went in you, you have a real risk of contracting any disease they have - but if you are the person administering anti rabies vaccine to someone you should know this...

Only if it was used on the other person first. Then you have to treat it as a bloodborne pathogen exposure.
