What will happen if lymphocytes are absent in w.b.c?

• Reason for elevated lymphocytes, low WBC and elevated glucose?? My 10 year old has been having sever lower stomach pains. Her blood work came back today...any advice???

  My guess is your daughter has a viral infection. Lymphocytes increase in the presence of viral infections and chronic infections. Severe lymphocytosis is associated with other, more serious conditions. You say the lymphocytes are elevated but an actual number tells me more than this. Same for the other values. I would need to know what the numbers are and this would tell me how far outside the normal range these values are. A decreased levels of white cells is found with viral infections, hematopoietic diseases, agranulocytosis, SLE, RA, alcoholism and malaria. Serum glucose (was this a random glucose??) can elevate when the body is under stress. Illness is perceived by the body as stress and IS a form of stress. Glucose is used by body cells as a form of energy. The average person can't distinguish the "upper" stomach from the "lower" stomach. My guess is that your daughter is having lower abdominal pain. The stomach is is the upper, left quadrant of the abdomen. I feel certain that your daughter is having more symptoms that just abdominal pain but I have no vital signs to work with. "any advice???" -- Yes. Please seek interpretation of diagnostic tests from the physician who ordered the tests. While I can give you general information, I cannot diagnose your daughter. That's outside my scope of practice. The best advice I can offer is that you speak to her doctor and follow up on these labs.
