Why is the IV passed in the clear when it can be easily encrypted?

Super dehydrated -- urgent care with IV in new york/brooklyn ?

  • I've been sick for 5 days now -- 99.5 fever on and off, diarrhea, headache, muscle ache, nausea. I'm a dog walker and I was out for several hours, every day, during the heat wave. I'm pretty positive I have heatstroke/severe dehydration. I tried to hydrate over the weekend with tons of gatorade and water but I'm still having the same symptoms, and when I tried to work yesterday I almost passed out. Needless to say, I don't have insurance. I'm guessing that I'll need to be treated with an IV, but it doesn't seem like many walk-in clinics have that available. Do you know of a clinic that could treat me well (with an IV if necessary) and hopefully not too expensively? I really don't want to go to the ER.

  • Answer:

Unless you've been vomiting the gatorade back up, you're not dehyrated any more. You could still be sick, however. Go to the nearest clinic. They can help you. If you can drink liquid without vomiting it back up, you don't need an IV.

I don't know of any clinics that do this specifically. On a case-to-case basis, medical professionals provide treatment per client based on symptoms and needs. Your situation would be treated at any medical facility, based on your requirements so I don't think it matters where you go, just that you likely have to pay. Unless there is a walk-in facility like a school or university with practising medical or nursing students who could 'work on you'? Worth a try if you need to save $$$$. Personally, if you are dehydrated, your electrolytes will be way off & that would likely cause a dizzy feeling, etc. There are electrolyte drinks available at the pharmacy, or powder mixes so just ask. DON't drink it too fast: Being dehydrated, you need to increase liquids slowly and balanced, not 'fast and hard'. That includes water, just room temp, not ice cold as it's too much of a shock. Small, light meals for now are ideal. Take it a bit slower for a few days, okay? You don't need to be passing out in the middle of the park.

http://ucofwestchester.com - this place treated me well but it's in terrytown. I have also been to Flatlands Medical-Urgent Care located at 9613 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11236. Their phone number is (718) 927-1355. The brooklyn hospital center is also good for people without insurance, 121 DeKalb Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Their number is 718-250-8000. Good luck!!!!

Soak in a bathtub for 3hours "With Salt" and drink tons of Gatorade and SLEEP!
