Dry eyes or allergic conjunctivitis?

Entire house waking up with crusty eyes. Conjunctivitis?

• The past two nights I've woken up with this GROSS crust gluing my eyelids shut. It's crusty on the top, and whitish-yellow once you get past the crust. The first night only one eye was sealed with grossness and the second night one was semi-sealed, the other fully. When I asked my aunt (the optomitrist) who lives with us about it, she said that herself and her granddaughter had been going through it for about a week. My mother (whom I live with) also said that it's happened to her once. Is this pink eye, or something different? Additional info (READ ME BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING) No, my eyes aren't irritated or itchy when I wake up--they're just glued shut. The scalera is red and irritated ONLY when I wake up--no other point during the day. The crust is yellow-ish, and the pus is white. No one in my house (include myself) is experiencing any sensitivity to light.

  I have had conjunctivitis which is the medical term for pink eye. It is very contagious. The reason why it is in both eyes is because it spreads from people touching or rubbing the infected eye, and then touching the other. You will need an antibiotic for this which is usually eye drops in order for it to go away. A easy way to get the crusty stuff ( dried puss ) off is to take a warm wash cloth and wipe your eyes starting from the inside corner out. If you have children you may want to notify the school so they can give other parents a heads up about what is going on being that it is VERY contagious, and kids do not know about these things and end up spreading it from one another..
