Swollen nasal passage, in the right-side of nose?

Beginning of flu medicine? Blocked nasal passage at the bottom near my throat. Not blocked nose?

  • Me and my partner both have a very sore throat. Above this pain there is a blockage sensation which feels like it may be in the nasal passage. Breathing is not affected but the entire area feels very tight and sore. The closest thing we can find on line is Post Nasal Drip, but we are not getting and mucas? What is the best medicine we can take for this? We are taking pain killers but I am worried medicines will not reach the area and it feels higher than the throat. Thanks!

"Above this pain there is a blockage sensation which feels like it may be in the nasal passage. Breathing is not affected but the entire area feels very tight and sore." -- If this were PND (post nasal drip), you'd have a sensation of liquid in your throat, you'd feel a frequent need to clear your throat and would probably have a chronic cough due to the constant irritation. You haven't mentioned having any of this. Do you? The term for a sore throat is pharyngitis. The tightness and soreness you feel could be at your soft palate or perhaps at the pharynx and probably has more to do with your pharyngitis than anything else. "What is the best medicine we can take for this?" -- The best medicine depends on what's causing the pharyngitis. Have you looked at each others throats yet? (Use a flashlight or penlight) Is there any redness? Any pus pockets? How do your tonsils look? "We are taking pain killers but I am worried medicines will not reach the area and it feels higher than the throat. Thanks!" -- What pain medicines are you using? Topical or systemic? Topical anesthetics, like Chloraseptic spray, lozenges or dissolving strips, can provide temporary relief because they act directly on irritated tissue. Systemics like Advil or Tylenol #3 are stronger and last longer and act on pain anywhere in the body. Why would you worry that pain medicine wouldn't "reach" the area?? I suggest that you examine each others throats. If you have trouble swallowing, if you see red spots on the soft or hard palate, if you see swollen, red tonsils with or without white patches or streaks, if you have a headache, a rash, swollen or tender lymph glands in your neck or if you have a fever over 100.0, see a doctor.
