What should I do on my sleepover?

What should I do if my brother has chickenpox and I haven't ever had it and I have a sleepover to go to.....?!?

  • My brother (14) and I (16) somehow swerved catching chickenpox in our childhood. We live together. Now he has it and feels terrible but anyway... I have a sleepover planned with six other friends and IDK if all of them have immunity SO SHOULD I GO? My brother has the spots and feels ill but I don't have any symptoms... Am I contagious? Could I give my sleepover-friends chickenpox?! Should I ask them if they've ever had it as babies?? (If so, wouldn't this be a tad suspicious ?) :-O I was really excited about the sleepover but reeeally don't wanna give anybody anything! Should I just not go?! Sorry for all the questions;I really don't know enough on the subject :-S

You could be a carrier but don't have the full blown virus. It's best that you don't go.

Don't go. If you give your friends chickenpox, theyll hate you.

The virus can be in your body for up to 2 weeks before you show symptoms, you can still pass on this virus to your friends even if you don't feel sick. Better to be safe than sorry!

How long has your brother had the chicken pox? Usually but not always if you have had any close contact with him and that includes even being in the same room with him you will be exposed. Normally chicken pox manifests symptoms within 48 hours of exposure. If say you have been near him and show no symptoms within 72 hours then you might just not get it at all. Some people have a natural immunity to it.
