What is up with my throat?

If not strep throat then what is this?

  • i looked up the symptoms for strep throat and they gave me info on it, and it said: Although some people are quick to think that any painful sore throat is strep, sore throats are usually caused by a viral infection and not strep bacteria. A sore throat caused by a virus can be just as painful as strep throat. But if you have cold symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny or stuffy nose, you probably do not have strep throat. -- i have a stuffy nose.. i don't know why i have that either. so what is it that i could possibly have then because my nose has been stuffy for 2 or three weeks and i woke up from taking a nap today and throat was soar and it hurts to swallow. but when i eat and drink something it doesn't hurt. can you tell me what i have and how i got it maybe and how i can get rid of it? -thank you so much all your answers and suggestions count!

  • Answer:

A fever almost always accompanies strep - if you don't have a fever, you most likely have a cold virus or allergies.

Sounds like allergies to me. They can cause a runny/stuffy nose and sore throat on and off. If you had strep you would have a fever too and feel pretty much like crap. Take some Claritin or Zyrtec.
