When you have mono, do you always have a fever?

What's wrong with my brother? Is this fever mono?

• My brother is recovering from mono(aka the kissing disease). He had it about three or four weeks ago, and we thought he was more or less fully recovered. There are a lot of colds and flus going around my area right now, so everyone I know is sick with something. He had a fever for three days last week. He recovered and was fine, but they had another one on Friday. Now he has another one again. Between all of these fevers, he is completely healthy and doesn't have a cough or sore throat or headache or anything. Just... normal. It's 104 as I speak right now, and he's almost 11 years old. (As I typed this my mother just told me it raised to 105, and she gave him ibreprohpen... she's calling the doctor. We are probably going to go to the ER) Is this mono? He's completely fine one minute, then sicker than a dog the next. My mom is going to take him to the doctor's again if he has this fever too long or if it rises. My dad thinks it may be mono and one of the many numerous colds that is going around the area combined into one terrible illness. He had a sore throat when he had the three day fever, but other than that he seems ok. It's just the fever right now, nothing else that we know of.

  well i maybe not entirely right but the same thing occurred with my little brother. he didn't have mono but he did have a fever going on and off on and off his temperature was rising hear and there as well. i have had mono i never got a fever like that bad. anyways when we took my brother to urgent care they told us he has strep throat. but many other patients before him pneumonia. hope it helps and im pretty sure he might have caught something funky going around. hope he gets well soon. god bless.:)
