Could this change in lifestyle affect my blood pressure?
-
I have had high blood pressure since I was 15.. I am now 18. I checked my blood pressure every week since about 3 weeks ago and it was about 120/65 really good for me.. sometimes lower sometimes a bit higher but never going over 130. Well I started going to the gym for the past week and started eating a lot more to try and gain some weight.. I've been taking whey protein supplement and eating much more than usual. Probably at least double what I used to. I took my blood pressure 2 days ago and it sky rocketed to 150/95! Even after I sit there for a little it goes down to high 130's and mid 80's for the lower number. What is going on? Should I stop immediately what I am doing or will my body adjust to this change in lifestyle. And might I add that my new diet isn't even really unhealthy.. milk.. eggs.. a lot of grains.. granola.. nuts.. lean meats. Its not like I am eating fast food. Thanks guys

Answer:
Potassium can help to lower high blood pressure. You might want to take a potassium supplement (it's like a multivitamin, but only has potassium in it). What you eat has a MAJOR effect on blood pressure. make sure you're eating healthy (with plenty of greens! make green smoothies for breakfasts - recipes on youtube). and whenever you have a salad, make your own salad dressing with a little sesame oil and apple cider vinegar, because both of these have said to lower high blood pressure. PS: medication depletes nutrition.

I believe it's normal to have higher blood pressure while working out. It's possible to do exercises that don't cause such a spike as to endanger your heart. I also have hereditary heart issues, and am 6 weeks past an open heart bypass operation. I've never had hypertension. What presented was light-headedness or dizziness for very short duration during heavy exertion or high stress at work. I will be studying the link below for my own return to the active life I've always enjoyed.
