Can an ulcer cause high blood pressure?
-
I was diagnosed with an ulcer about three months ago, (not sure what kind yet, still need to see a specialist) and the side effects from it have been draining. During the times I've seen the Doctor a few months ago, my blood pressure had been fine, but now it is rather high, with a consistency of 158/100 and about 90+ BPM. I'm 26 and overweight, but my BP has mostly been fine until now. An added note is that a month ago my house burned down, and my beloved beagle died. Could it be stress with that along with my stress from my ulcer? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Your chronic high level of stress commonly precipitates high blood pressure and peptic ulcer. The ulcer by itself doesn't influence blood pressure.
