Is it normal to have bad gas after heart attack?

Can excessive gas make you feel like you're having a heart attack?

  • According to every possible diagnostic test that evaluates the condition of my heart, my cardiologist concluded that I have a perfectly healthy heart. Every once in a while, I get this awful sensation in the left side of my chest--pressure, tightness, pain in my left shoulder, and I also feel that my heartbeat is more pronounced. If I pass gas, it helps make the symptoms less but only time makes them completely go away. Sometimes this sensation lasts for only a few minutes, other times it lasts for hours. Can anyone tell me what causes this and how to prevent it from happening? By the way, I go to the gym 4 or 5 times a week, do a fast-paced, 45 minute cardio workout, and feel no discomfort.

  • Answer:

It is possible. In order to make sure that the theory is correct, chew an activated dimethicone tablet in the middle of each meal, to help clear more gas from your intestine, and check the heart symptoms. Also avoid food causing gas.
