What is considered low blood pressure?

What is considered a normal blood pressure reading and what is considered high on a 13 year old boy?

  • My son is 13, he weighs 80 pounds, he's 4ft, 11 inches. He had a pulse rate of 91, and his blood pressure was 126/74. The dr said he was dehydrated, that's why the pulse rate was so high. He's going this week for another check up. I took him in last week because he was playing a Wrestling Video Game on PS2, and said he was dizzy for about 1 second, then he got pale, he's already very pale, but he was real pale after this happened. That's when I called the advice nurse, she had me check his pulse, it was high she said, he should be seen. Does anyone know what the average/normal blood pressure should be on a boy his age and size?

  • Answer:

120/60 is the normal range BP for children.. children must drink water.. suger-flavored soft drinks are not considered part of the minimum water consumption per day so its important that, whether your child plays outside or not, he must drink water sometime throughout the day...when you have a high BP, it is due to an excessive amount of sodium ions in the body, causing the blood vessels to work harder even when the child is not participating in moderate-vigorous activity..
