Why is my eye red all the time?

Eye still gets red from time to time since 13 yrs ago.?

  • I had surgery 13 years ago on my one eye for strabismus surgery. from time to time it becomes red in the inner corner near my nose. the corner gets swollen and beat red. I have tried eye drops such as Visine. It is embarrassing and I am drawn to staying in for the day.. to calling off of work because its so red. I have allergies but i know it isn't a contributing factor, otherwise it would be affecting my other eye as well. It is not an conjunctivitis because I do not have the symptoms. I am not sure what it could be. I do NOT smoke or drink. It can be red one day and the next or the 3rd day it will be back to normal. I do wake up with it and i usually know when it is about to come on because it starts to get gritty, dry and itchy. Does anyone know what it is or should i go to the doctor for this?
