Are Chinchillas illegal in Alaska?

Allergic to chinchillas?

• My question: Is there any way to take care of my chinchillas without sneezing? I used to be fine with them, then I became allergic. Allergy pills don't seem to work, I have to wear a sanding mask to be able to even enter the room. The story: My cousin was unable to continue to take care of her two chinchillas, so my family took them in. I was fine with them for probably almost an entire year, then we purchased two mice. I noticed I would get tiny hives if the mice scratched me but otherwise I was fine. After a while it stopped, but a week later I started sneezing uncontrollably whenever I was in my room with the pets. After some time, I realized that I was allergic to chinchillas and not at all allergic to any of the other pets. I had recovered from my mouse allergy, but became allergic to the chinchillas. I have to wear a mask when I care for them and change my clothes afterward so I don't sneeze. I'm not willing to let them go to another home, I had a rabbit in this exact situation a while ago and he died soon after we adopted him. I don't want anybody to have to go through something like that. Two days ago I was reading one of my old pet care books and it said that it's rare for people to be allergic to chinchillas...So I'm kinda confused here. I'm not allergic to anything else on earth! Does anybody know good pet allergy remedies?
