How to prevent an allergic reaction?

Will having an allergic reaction to something prevent you from being in the military?

  • i swore in to the airforce In march of this year and am in their DEP program till i graduate in may and leave in august 24. within the last month i have been getting allergic reactions to i dunno what yet i'm going to a doctor about it today and hopefully will be referred to a specialist. but would this prevent me from going next year? or could they have the problem fixed by the time i leave and everything be okay?

  • Answer:

I suppose it really depends on what you're allergic to. If you have typical allergies, then you can try something with antihistamines, like Zyrtec, which is over the counter, and if that fixes the problem then it won't interfere with your involvement in the military. Another example: my husband is deathly allergic to bananas, and he's still in the Army. So I really suppose it just depends on what you're allergic to and what medications you have to take to control it. Hope this helps. And hope you feel better.
