Can dogs have allergies?

Allergies with dogs can somebody please help? 10 points.?

    There are some breeds that are less prone to cause allergic reactions. They include curly coated dogs like Poodles, Bichons, and Portuguese Water Dogs, and drop- coated dogs like Maltese, Shih Tzu, Havanese, and Yorkies. Some Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are less allergenic, but only if they are puppies from a labradoodle or goldendoodle bred to a Poodle. Also, you may be allergic to any dog's saliva and dander- it really depends on you and your immune response. The only way to know for sure is to go hang out with some of these breeds and see how you react. Weekly rinses (of the dog) with distilled water are said to be helpful for many allergy sufferers, too. I hope you find a dog that works for you!

Make sure you have medicine around! And, like someone else already said, there are breeds that are non-allergenic. The Obama's got a Portuguese Water Dog because Malia has allergies. Don't get any long-haired breeds such as a Shetland Sheepdog (I have one and they SHED. Fur storm!). You might be OK around short-haired breeds, such as Greyhounds or Italian Greyhounds.
