I'm allergic to cats but invited to a house with 2 cats.?
-
Since when I was a baby, I've always been an allergic person. I have eczema, allergic rhinitis and I used to have asthma (once hospitalized but haven't had seizure for almost 20 years so I believe I got over it now?). I had a blood test when I was small and it showed that one of the worst allergens for me was cats. In fact, my grandma used to have a cat and whenever I visited her, I suffered from skin itchiness, rashes, eye irritation etc and I felt very uncomfortable. Since then, I have always avoided to be near cats. I haven't exposed myself to cats for nearly 15 years. But now, I got a friend who has 2 cats at home and am invited to come over to her house for dinner. Is there a chance that I'm not allergic to cats anymore? She doesn't know I'm allergic to cats and I hate to say I can't go to her house but I'm also afraid of the risk. I don't want to take any medicines just to visit her. I kind of want to challenge myself and go to her house to see if I'm ok but if I get sick there, I feel bad and she will feel bad for me. I'm worried especially because I haven't been near cats for so many years. Anyone has a similar experience? Any advises will be appreciated.

Answer:
yep ive tottaly been in your situtation many times. Im allergic to cats, used to have seziers, use to be asthmaic. But being algeric to cats really does stuck. Most of my friends have cats, so i cant go over to their house instead they come over to mine. One time my friend had a halloween party and she had a cat. Most of the time i was their was sitting outside while everyone else was having fun :( But ive been talking medicine now called claritin, it relives everything exept my weesing. Anyways, if your really determined to go then you should, but as soon as you feel like crap you might want to leave. You could make up an excuse? That's the best advice i could give ya hope it helps

I would take a claritin, or benadryl before i went over just in case. The longer you are exposed to them, the more likely you are to have symptoms.
