Why does my nose run EVERY time I eat?

Why does my nose run whenever I eat certain foods?

  • I've noticed lately that when I eat sometimes my nose will run. I'm not sure what type of food causes it because it usually happens when I eat a meal. My nose will run while I'm eating and after I'm eating. Its sometimes embarrasing. I do have sinus/allergy problems and I use a nasal spray once a day. I also have acid reflux/barrett's esophagus and I'm starting to suspect that I may have celiac disease because I've been expereincing some of the symptoms. So that got me to thinking about gluten. Could gluten cause my nose to run? The last time I experienced my nose running when I ate was on Monday night when I ate supper (we ate at Perkins). This is what I ate: Breaded Baked Cod Steamed Broccoli Wild Long Grain Rice Dinner Roll Blueberry Muffin So could my problem be from my allergy/sinus problem or maybe the possiblity of celiac disease/gluten sensitivity?

  • Answer:

It could be a gluten allergy, but it also could be warm foods. Try for a whole day eating nothing but cold foods (sandwiches, fruit, granola bars etc..) and see if your nose runs after you've done that. If it still happens, even though you havent heated anything up, ask your doctor.
