How do you take away allergies?

How long does it take for a steroid to help a child's cough from asthma & allergies?

  • Here's the story. My daughter is 5 years old. She developed a mild cough about 3 weeks ago. (I know this sounds like a long time! Believe me I know.) I have taken her to the pediatrician 3 times. The first we she was just coughing here & there, nothing I thought was serious. Just figured her little immune system was trying to fight off a little cold that was coming on. Week 2 the cough started getting worse at night. Sounding Croupy. She has had croup the past 4 years, once a winter. The pediatrician didn't think it was croup, said her chest sounded fine, lungs sounded fine, clear fluids in her nose and ears looked good. So, she sends me home w/allergy medicine to take at night. Figured it was allergies, but if persisted we would look into coughing asthma. She was given a inhaler last yr, but has never had to use it. - Nighttime allergy meds were not working and croupy, bark cough had presumed through the day and at night as well. 2nd doctor visit, she was given a steroid to help the cough and more allergy meds and albuterol inhaler to use every 4 hours for cough. Still no fever, no sore throat, lungs sound fine, chest sounds fine. Pediatrician thinks it's the allergies causing inflammation in her lungs causing her asthma/cough to be worse. She has been taking steroid twice a day going on 3 days, inhaling albuterol every 4 hours as needed and allergy meds at night. STILL NO relief! The cough sounds the same! No fever etc.. This is so frustrating. I feel I can't do anything, but go to Children's Hospital tomorrow and demand they do an xray and anything else to made darn sure there is nothing wrong!?

  • Answer:

suppressing effects/symptoms cannot resolve the problem, only correcting the cause can. it is likely the child has a nerve interference problem which requires upper cervical adjustment to correct.
