Why are my ears always closing?

• Ok, I've been having some problems with both of my ears. For some reason most of the time when I wake up, my ears are closed. When they are closed, it feels like 50% of my hearing is gone. Then when I take a shower and clean my ears with some water, they open and like an hour later they close again. I think they close because I sleep on my side but my brother also sleeps on his side and his ears never close up. I also bought this medicine for my ears so they can open and it did work.... for like 2-3 weeks and then closed again. I used it again and nothing happened. What can I do? This is really starting to bother me because I do feel like 50% of my hearing is gone. My ears are currently closed and I need to know what I can do to open them. Is there a good medicine I don't want to go to an ENT mainly because they charge WAY to much =(

  I wouldn't call myself an expert, BUT I ahve the same problem and REALLY bad allergies. I call it "ears being plugged" Sometimes a q-tip works when you clean you ear. When mine close it is annoying because you only hear 50% of sound but if you try a nasal saleine (spelling) wash that is sold at any drug store it helps!! Hope it works!
