Is it possible to be allergic to one specific dog?

  • I have had a dog for more than 13 years now (a dachshund) and I have never shown any allergic reactions to it or any other dog I've come in contact with. However this summer my sister got a dachshund of her own and I definitely get reactions from it! I get spots on my skin and it starts itching a lot, my eyes start to itch and I sneeze. I still don't get any reaction from my dog or any other dogs, except my sisters. So I'm wondering, is it really possible to be allergic to just one specific dog?! The weirdest thing is that it is the same breed as my dog!

It's probably not the dog your allergic to its may be something she is using on the dog like dog shampoo for example. Ask her what pet products she uses on her dog and if any are different then you use on yours it is most likely one of those. Hope that helps.
